Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Chartis gg, inc. governing your access to and use of the Service. By using the Service you represent that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

Affirmative Acceptance at Participation: Before submitting a nomination or casting a vote, users are required to affirmatively check a box or click a button confirming acceptance of these Terms and our Privacy Policy (a “clickwrap” acceptance). This affirmative act constitutes your express, binding agreement to these Terms. If you do not affirmatively accept, you may browse the Service but will not be permitted to nominate or vote. The timestamp and session identifier of your acceptance may be logged to establish a record of consent. We recommend that you save or print a copy of these Terms for your records.

2. Description of Service

The UEFN Community Awards is a community-run annual awards program celebrating outstanding experiences and creators in the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) developer community. The Service allows eligible users to:

• Browse award categories for UEFN-created map experiences and creators;
• Submit nominations for qualifying UEFN islands and community members;
• Cast votes for nominated experiences and creators; and
• View award timelines, results, and related content.

The Service is provided free of charge. No cash prizes or monetary awards are offered. Winners receive community recognition only.

3. Eligibility

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years of age. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:

• You are at least 18 years old;
• You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract;
• You are not prohibited by applicable law from using the Service; and
• You will use the Service in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.

If you are under the age of 18, you are not permitted to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that a user under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you believe we may have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us at info@chartis.gg.

4. User Accounts and Authentication

4.1 Discord Authentication

To nominate or vote on the Service, you must authenticate using a valid Discord account via Discord's OAuth 2.0 authorization flow. By authenticating via Discord, you authorize us to receive your Discord account ID for identity verification purposes. We do not receive or store your Discord password.

Your use of Discord in connection with the Service is also governed by Discord's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for Discord's data practices.

4.2 Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your Discord account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at info@chartis.gg if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account in connection with the Service.

4.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our sole discretion, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to the Service, other users, us, or third parties.

5. Nominations and Voting Rules

5.1 Nominations

During the active nomination period, you may submit nominations by providing the following information:

• Map Award categories — the map or island name/code of the UEFN experience you are nominating;
• Creator Award categories — the name or handle of the creator you are nominating; and
• The award category you are nominating them for.

The following rules apply to nominations:

• Self-nomination is permitted;
• Each user may submit one nomination per award category;
• The same island or creator may be nominated in multiple categories;
• Nominated maps must be UEFN-created Fortnite islands; and
• Nominated creators must be active UEFN community members.

Nomination submissions are not publicly attributed to you. Aggregate nomination counts for a given map or creator in a given category may be publicly visible, but individual nominations are not disclosed.

5.2 Nominee Selection

Our team reviews all nominations and selects up to five nominees per category based on nomination counts and community feedback. Nominee selection is at our sole discretion.

5.3 Voting

During the active voting period:

• You may cast one vote per award category;
• You may change your vote at any time while voting remains open — changing your vote permanently deletes your prior vote and replaces it with your new selection; no vote history is retained;
• Votes are cryptographically anonymized as described in our Privacy Policy — your vote selection is stored in a separate database table with no link to your identity; and
• Winners are determined solely by the community vote — the nominee with the most votes in each category wins.

5.4 Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Submit fraudulent, spam, or automated nominations or votes;
• Use bots, scripts, or other automated means to interact with the Service;
• Attempt to manipulate, rig, or otherwise interfere with the nomination or voting process;
• Attempt to de-anonymize votes or identify how other users voted; or
• Impersonate any person or entity in connection with nominations or voting.

We reserve the right to disqualify any nomination or vote that we reasonably believe was submitted fraudulently or in violation of these Terms.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Content

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality — including but not limited to award categories, site design, text, graphics, and code — are owned by Chartis gg, inc. and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or otherwise exploit any content from the Service without our prior written consent.

6.2 Third-Party Intellectual Property and Nominative Fair Use

Fortnite®, Unreal Editor for Fortnite® (UEFN), and related trademarks, trade names, logos, and intellectual property are the exclusive property of Epic Games, Inc. and/or its affiliates. Chartis gg, inc. is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Epic Games, Inc. in any way.

References to Fortnite, UEFN, island names, creator names, and related terms on this Service are made solely under the doctrine of nominative fair use: we use these terms only to accurately identify and describe the community, platforms, experiences, and creators that are the subject of these awards. We use no more of the mark than is reasonably necessary for that identification, and we do nothing that suggests sponsorship or endorsement by Epic Games, Inc.

We comply with Epic Games' Fan Content Policy to the extent applicable to community-run initiatives of this nature. If Epic Games, Inc. believes any use of its intellectual property on this Service exceeds permissible nominative use, it may contact us at info@chartis.gg and we will promptly review and address the concern. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use Epic Games' intellectual property beyond what is permitted under applicable law or Epic Games' published policies.

6.3 User Submissions

By submitting a nomination or other content through the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and use that content in connection with operating and promoting the Service. You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your submission does not infringe the rights of any third party.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with the following third-party services:

• Discord— for user authentication. Discord's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply to your use of Discord.
• Supabase— for data storage. Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in accordance with Supabase's privacy and security policies.
• Fortnite Data API— to display public island metrics. Use of this API is subject to Epic Games' developer terms.
• Google Analytics (GA4)— to collect anonymized usage statistics. Google's Privacy Policy governs data collected through this service.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 No Affiliation with Epic Games

The Service is an independent, community-run project. It is not sponsored, endorsed, operated by, or affiliated with Epic Games, Inc. or any of its affiliates. Fortnite and UEFN are trademarks of Epic Games, Inc.

8.2 Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted access. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Chartis gg, inc., its officers, directors, employees, agents, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In no event shall our total liability to you exceed one hundred United States dollars (USD $100.00).

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Chartis gg, inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of or access to the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights.

11. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We also reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

12.2 Informal Resolution

Before initiating any legal proceeding, you agree to contact us at info@chartis.gg and attempt to resolve any dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days.

12.3 Binding Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be finally settled by binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), conducted in English, with the seat of arbitration in Delaware. The arbitrator's award shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

12.4 Class Action Waiver

You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

13. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Chartis gg, inc. with respect to the Service.
